Energy
usage is increasing almost daily.
Why should I save energy?
Saving The Environment
Burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural
gases, produces the majority of energy in the UK. This
process also produces waste gases including carbon dioxide
(CO2) and sulphur dioxide (that can cause acid rain),
having a severe effect on both a local and global scale.
The emission of these waste gases, most significantly
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is contributing to
the "Greenhouse Effect" which is
increasing global temperatures that can lead to
changes in climate and sea level.
Fossil fuels are a natural resource and represent a
finite non-renewable source of energy
At the current rate of consumption
North Sea Oil may only last until 2010
Saving You Money
The UK government is committed to reducing CO2 emissions
by 20% on 1990 levels by 2010. These reductions are
to be achieved through legislation that will deliver
cuts in emissions from all sectors of the economy through
the promotion of energy-efficiency and the use of cleaner
technologies as well as imposing a Climate
Change Levy (CCL) on energy use by UK businesses.
Increasing the energy efficiency of your business will:
 |
Reduce your fuel bills and offset future CCL
payments
|
 |
Reduce operating costs
|
 |
Increase productivity and efficiency
|
 |
Enhance your image with staff, clients and the
general public
|
Significant improvements in energy efficiency can often
be made for a low capital outlay and with a short
payback period.
