Recycling aerosols recovers tin and high grade steel through detinning, steel used in new steel production and aluminium that has a high resale value and empty aluminium and steel aerosols are now accepted by many secondary metal dealers.

In spite of the potential the UK has been slow in realising the potential in aerosol recycling, possibly reflecting concerns over health and safety. However, Germany recycles 60-70 % and France 40 % of their aerosols.
