Airways Tourism For Tomorrow Awards
The British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow awards recognise
and encourage sustainable tourism initiatives across
the globe. The awards, which have been run by British
Airways since 1992, are directed at all activities or
projects associated with tourism: tour operators large
and small; individual hotels as well as chains; national
parks and heritage sites. The Tourism for Tomorrow awards
are run annually and attract entries from all over the
world. Applicants are required to demonstrate how their
project meets one or more of the following environmental
objectives:
1. Social - how does it benefit the local community?
2. Heritage - how does it protect the cultural,
built and natural heritage?
3. Management - how do you manage the project in
terms of the number of people and their impacts on waste,
energy and water management
4. Communication - how do you inform visitors and
others about the environmental and social implications
of their tourism before, during, and after their visit?
5. Leadership - what is it that makes your project
a role model?
6. Sustainable Tourism - how does it contribute
to a better quality of life for everyone and for future
generations?

Award holders may be recognised through:
