Steps to Reduce Water Pollution

Important Notice
If effluent from your premises is discharged directly to controlled waters (including all watercourses, canals and groundwater) it is essential that you ensure that your operation is in compliance with the Water Resources Act 1991 and that prior to discharge you have obtained consent from the Environment Agency

  • Provision of segregated dog walking areas and / or dog waste bins

  • Chemical toilet waste disposal point for coaches and camper vans

  • Use Eco-Balls as an alternative to washing powder. The balls produce ionised oxygen that naturally activates water molecules giving an efficient wash without harsh detergents and uses less water, as there is no need for a second rinse cycle. The balls are good for up to 750 washes and cost £25-30. Available on-line at www.greenshop.co.uk

  • Reed beds can be used (where no mains drainage is available) to detoxify outflow prior to entering the surrounding environment.
