| Waste can be a significant
cost element of your business, with, on average, 4% of
a company's annual turnover attributable to waste costs
such as disposal/collection. Therefore reducing the amount
of waste produced will benefit the environment as well
as lead to substantial cost savings whilst at the same
time helping to avoid prosecution and fines.
Implementing a waste management scheme will also demonstrate
an environmental responsibility to potential customers.
Improvements in your businesses waste management practices
can be achieved by moving up the waste management hierarchy:

|
The preferred environmental, and often most cost effective
option, is to minimise the amount of waste produced,
and where this is not possible / practical, develop
schemes to re-use and recycle the waste your operations
produce. Due to often severe environmental and financial
costs, the least desirable option is in fact disposal
