A valve leaking water at 0.1 litres a minute wastes
53 m3 of water a year which can cost £71 in water
and sewerage charges (DEFRA)
Unexplained increases in your water bill may indicate
a leak
If you have metered water you can determine if any leaks
are present by conducting a simple Night Flow Test.
|
1.
|
Read the main water meter after everyone has
left the site
|
|
2.
|
Turn off any automatic flushing urinals that
normally flush at set times
|
|
3.
|
Read the meter the following morning before
staff enter the site
|
There should be no difference in the meter readings
given there is no legitimate overnight consumption.
Any differences in readings may indicate a leak.
Exact detection and location of leaks in supply pipes
requires the skilled services of the local water company
or a private contractor.
